This is an antimicrobial peptide (AMP) is commonly found in humans. This part was commercially synthesized and codon optimized for expression in E. coli and is an improvement on LL-37 parts currently in the registry. The prefix and suffix are compatible with RFC 23 (silver fusion) to allow for protein fusions and this part contains an ‘atg’ to allow for immediate protein synthesis. Furthermore this LL-37 derivative does not have any stop codons which allows for composite BioBrick
